How Much Does A Website Cost?

This is usually the first question potential clients ask us when looking for a web company to build a site for them. Since this is an extremely broad question, we begin to interview our prospect with questions such as “What would you like your website to do?” or “When customers visit your site, what do you want them to do?”

By asking our list of questions during our web design consult, we get them to brainstorm by focusing on the purpose or goal of the site.

If you wanted to buy a car or a house, would you ask the car dealer how much does a car cost without at least determining what kind of car you want? I think the dealer, with a raised eyebrow, may think you are joking and point you to the exit. After determining the make and model, it is easy to choose which features you want the car to have, automatic or manual transmission, moon roof, sports package, winter package, etc.

The same concept can be applied to the development of a website. Pricing varies and changes when extra features and functionality are added to the equation and this is how pricing is determined for a website.

Most clients already have some idea of which functionality or features they want their site to have and if they dont we help identify these features by providing us with links to sites they like. This helps us quickly ascertain which features or type of functionality they desire for their business site.

Sometimes we may get requests for features that our clients want but may fall outside of their budget, in this case, we will do our best to offer alternatives by mentioning all options available to them.
