Why Your Site Isn't In Google and How To Get It Added.

Has your business been online but visitors arent finding you? Have you tried performing a search for your own  website and found nothing?

There are many reasons why visitors arent finding you and here are a few tips to help broaden your reach.

Keywords and Descriptions
1.  Keywords and descriptions for all of your pages. This is very important  to have a strategy on how you think visitors will search for your content. What keywords do you think they will type in to find your site and then use those keywords inside your pages. Use them in your titles, page content and page descriptions.

Placing keywords and meaningful descriptions into titles, ALT tags in your images and short & specific phrases will optimize your site for your visitors. One important detail here is you must be specific. Bloating your pages with catchphrases and words that are not relevant to your website will actually get you penalized.

Mobile Optimization First
2. Google and other search engines (Yahoo and Bing) wont prioritize your site if it is not optimized for mobile devices and so your site will suffer. Google actually gives precedence to mobile-friendly websites because the amount of mobile traffic has increased to 85% over desktop since 2018.

If your site doesnt accommodate mobile users then your Google ranking will suffer. Google considers these types of websites to provide a poor user experience for their visitors and therefore wont subject them to this.

Get Your Website Indexed
3.  If you want your site to show up in Google’s results then your site has to be added to its search engine. This is a crucial step that should be done once your site has been completed. Do a search for your website and if nothing comes up that means your site was not added. There are two tools you need in order to add your site to Google’s index.

a.) Google’s Site Index:  This tool is used to add your site to Google and request their bots crawl your site in order to index all your pages. a site crawl can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks so you must be patient and watch your site’s analytics to periodically check for inclusion.

Since there is a limitation on how many pages you can submit for indexing, its more advantageous to submit a sitemap instead so its done all in one shot.

b.) Google’s Search Console: Is a free tool from Google that provides help to anyone that has a website to understand how their website is performing on Google Search. This tool also provides suggestions on what may be weighing down your site’s ranking.

You can also use this tool to verify ownership of your site and submit your complete Site Map of all your site’s pages. What’s so convenient about this tool is you will receive an email from Google’s Search Console if anything goes awry.
